EasyOffice install issues

"All my file icons look different. What happened?"

If file associations are set to EasyOffice, then the icons showing doc and rtf word processing documents, and xls spreadsheets, and zip zipped files will, of course, look different -- they are now using our (more beautiful, we think anyway) icons instead of Microsoft's icons. If you want to buy a cheap copy, you can buy it from TigerDirect using a coupon code.

None of your files have been changed. Just about nothing in your computer, except for the file associations, has been changed.

When you install EasyOffice, we describe what file associations are, and ask you if you want to set file associations to EasyOffice, or leave them alone.
If you set file associations to EasyOffice your document, spreadsheet and zip icons will change, and double-clicking a file will cause it to be opened by EasyOffice, but nothing else changes. (You can, as described below, at any time, restore your file associations to the way they were before.)

If you don't set file associations to EasyOffice, then EasyOffice still installs normally, except your old document and spreadsheet icons are not changed, and when you double-click a document, spreadsheet or zip file, EasyWord, EasySpreadsheet or EasyZip will not automatically open up that file. (You can, by following the same procedure described below, at any time change file associations over to EasyOffice.)

If you ever un-install EasyOffice, file associations are restored to the way they were before EasyOffice was installed.

"I restored the file associations back from EasyOffice to my previous associations, which were Microsoft Office. When I double-click a document Microsoft Word now opens it, which is what I want. However, the document icon is still an EasyOffice icon. Why?"

Your desktop icons need to be refreshed. In some cases re-booting is not necessary, and the file icons change back after restoring your file associations. In other cases, the next time you re-boot, the Microsoft icons, instead of the EasyOffice document and spreadsheet icons, will appear. (However, the file associations themselves, occur immediately after being restored. Re-booting is not necessary.)

"Can I change my file associations back to my old ones, or to EasyOffice, at any time?"

Yes.

From within EasyWord, EasySpreadsheet or EasyHelper you can change file associations back to what you were using before you installed EasyOffice. (In EasyWord or EasySpreadsheet, go to File -> Change File Associations -> follow the prompts.) You do not even have to re-boot. With one click, your file associations are restored to what they were before you installed EasyOffice. For example, if before using EasyOffice you were using Microsoft Office, then if you restore your file associations, when you double click on a doc file, Microsoft Word will now open it, instead of EasyWord. As well, when you look at your files, a doc file will no longer have our icon, but will have the Microsoft icon. (Icons will not change immediately. When your screen is refreshed (re-booting is not usually required for this, except for the rare computer), the icons will automatically change.)

"I just restored my file associations from EasyOffice back to the way they were before EasyOffice was installed. Did the files change in any way?"

No. The files themselves are completely unchanged.
